Traditional highlights are one of the most timeless and versatile lightening techniques, designed to create brightness, dimension, and softness throughout the hair using carefully placed foils from close to the root area.
Despite the name, traditional highlights are not old-fashioned — they are a classic technique that can be adapted in many modern ways depending on the desired result. From soft natural dimension to bright Scandinavian blondes, highlights can be fully customized to suit the hair type, lifestyle, skin tone, and maintenance preferences of each guest.
This service can be approached in different ways: T-section highlights for subtle brightness around the face and crown, half-head highlights for soft dimension and movement, full-head highlights for maximum brightness and impactful blonding, and fine weaves or stronger slices depending on the desired finish.
Traditional highlights can be created using different techniques and formulations depending on the desired result. They may be done with high-lift color, lightening powder, or combined techniques to achieve anything from soft sun-kissed dimension to brighter blondes.
The same foil technique can also be used with darker shades to create depth and contrast, known as lowlights. Lowlights help add richness, dimension, or softly darken previously over-lightened hair while maintaining movement and softness. Highlights and lowlights can also be combined within the same service to create a more balanced, multi-dimensional result.
Although we work with premium and gentle lightening products, any lightening service naturally removes melanin and proteins from the hair in order to achieve lift. For this reason, we strongly recommend adding a K18 treatment to any blonding or lightening appointment. Babylights
Babylights are an ultra-fine highlighting technique designed to create the softest, most natural-looking brightness possible. Using very delicate woven sections of hair, this technique mimics the subtle dimension and luminous effect naturally seen in children’s hair after sun exposure.
Babylights are perfect for guests looking for a seamless, blended, and low-maintenance blonde result without strong lines or contrast. The regrowth appears softer and more diffused, allowing the color to grow out beautifully and naturally over time.
This technique can be applied strategically around the face and crown for subtle brightness, or throughout the entire head for an overall lighter and more refined blonde effect. Balayage
Balayage is a modern French-inspired coloring technique designed to create soft, sun-kissed dimension throughout the hair. The word "balayage" comes from the French term meaning "to sweep," reflecting the freehand and blended approach used to create natural-looking lightness and movement.
Inspired by the effect of hair naturally lightened by the sun and sea, balayage creates a softer and more lived-in result compared to traditional highlights. The brightness is usually focused through the mid-lengths and ends, while the root area remains softer and slightly deeper, allowing for a seamless and lower-maintenance grow-out.
Balayage can be customized in many different ways depending on the desired result. It does not have to be blonde — tones can range from soft caramel and warm honey to cooler beige blondes, light brunettes, rich mocha tones, or deeper dimensional shades. The placement can also vary, from subtle face-framing brightness and "money piece" effects to a more impactful full balayage throughout the hair.
At NOA Studio, balayage is approached as a highly personalized service. Different techniques may be combined across different areas of the head to create the most natural and flattering result, including backcombing, freehand painting, foiling, and airtouch-inspired placement.

Global Bleach
Global bleach is a full blonding service where the natural pigment of the hair is carefully lifted from roots to ends in order to achieve an overall lighter result, ranging from soft blondes to icy platinum tones depending on the hair’s natural starting point and condition.
This is one of the most transformative blonding services and requires a highly controlled and personalized approach. The final level of lightness achievable will always depend on the natural depth of the hair, previous color history, and the overall integrity of the hair. Generally, lighter natural hair can achieve cleaner platinum tones more easily, while naturally very dark hair may require multiple sessions to safely reach very pale blondes.
After the lightening process, a toner is applied to rebalance the hair, neutralize unwanted warmth, refine the final shade, and restore shine and softness. This step is essential in creating the exact blonde tone desired — whether cool, creamy, neutral, beige, or brighter icy blondes.
Because global bleach removes natural melanin and proteins from the hair in order to create lift, this service requires ongoing maintenance and professional aftercare. Root retouches are typically recommended every 6–8 weeks to maintain a seamless result and avoid banding or excessive overlap during future appointments.
